Our family stopped in for a mid afternoon snack - no one was really starving (thank heavens). My daughter ordered the kids hamburger. It came with fries and a sad looking bowl of fruit cocktail. She said the burger tasted like fish so she didn't finish it. Both kids got kid size slushies which I thought were a little spendy @ $3.50 each and they were average at best. My husband and son ordered popcorn shrimp to split. I don't eat shrimp; my husband said it was mushy. I ordered a piña colada. If there was alcohol in it at all, it wasn't much. Basically it tasted like a weak coconut milkshake. An $8 milkshake. My husband ordered some sort of mango/lemonade cocktail which I wasn't impressed with but he said was okay. He also thought there was little to no alcohol in it. On the up side the hush puppy's were good and the servers were very friendly and prompt. Maybe they have other food and drinks that they do well but based on our limited experience with them, I wouldn't take that gamble.

Little on the pricey side but the food was great and the view equaled. Alligator bites were small but tasty. Hush puppies were small also. Had the grilled shrimp/scallops/mahi mahi for entree. Was perfectly cooked and delicious. Would have liked a slightly larger portion of each, but still good. Will definitely return on our next visit to MB.

Mind you, my visit to Flo's was early into my vacation. The GM replied to my post, however, I was busy enjoying my vacation and did not reply immediately causing a curt response on Trip Advisor. If I wasn't completely turned away from dining at Flo's before, I am now. I don't recall our server's name; however, it started at the door with the young man behind the counter. While the GM might not feel the food was overpriced, I beg to differ. We did not have alcohol beverages which is when I would expect to pay $70.00 for two meals! Prosser's is down the road and the food is good at a lesser cost. The atmosphere and decor at Flo's is unique, I will give them that, but my dining experience was not over the top. While an immediate response may have been expected, I apologize to the GM, but I was busy enjoying the week on the beach and dining at other establishments in the area. Signed, Now a 'completely' dissatisfied customer!

Just leaving now and couldn't get out of there quick enough. Hush puppies are decent. Alligator appetizer is small, expensive and not very flavorful. Buried in sauce. Fried green tomatoes were terrible. No flavor, breading falling off. Shrimp creole, really? It was rice mixed in tomato paste and the shrimp was sautéed ? and placed on top of this flavorless tomato rice. No spice. No seasoning. Two of us ordered this and covered it in their famous green creole sauce to try and give some flavor. Blackened fish was said to be good but was the size of a deck of cards for a high price of $24. Way overpriced. Served over white rice and a piece of their famous garlic bread. Dry, flavorless and unedible. A 5 year old could make better garlic bread. Ribs were said to be fair. Smothered in sauce but fell off the bones. The half piece of corn on the cob was unedible. The slaw was ok at best. Ice tea and hush puppies were best part of the meal. The waitress? Oh yeah, we did have one, but she couldn't care less about us. Not the least bit friendly. Couldn't say three words to us. When asked about different menu items she had no suggestions and no real opinion on the food. She came back once to check in us. Horrible, unfriendly service. $130 later and this place stinks. No meal was finished and not sure if you could give the leftovers away. There are really great restaurants in M Inlet. It's just not Flos. Go elsewhere or be very disappointed like us.

Flo's Place used to be a great hole-in-the-wall gem when you visited Myrtle Beach. The Dunkin' Pot was huge enough for two people and you got a big white bucket for your shells. It was casual, messy and delicious. As it's gotten more popular the menu expanded, prices when up and quality went down. I miss the Flo's of the early days.

I want to give them 5 stars so badly. I live close to here, I used to WORK there in highschool, but so much has changed. The food is so good but the management is SO BAD. I placed a to go order of (1) shrimp po boy sub with fries and (2) a burger with fried green tomatoes. The fried green tomatoes were replaced with fried pickles. I realized this when I got home and called them. They apologized and asked if I could stop back in for the side of fried tomatoes. OK everyone makes mistakes. and I only live 0.5 miles away, probably less. On one positive note, the bartender made me a sinfully delicious mango drink... seriously amazing. On the other hand, I only got a drink because it took them about a half hour to get me ONE SIDE of fried tomatoes that I had ordered about an hour ago at this point. OH AND as I was walking out the door they stopped me and asked me whether or not I paid! I told them that YES of course I closed my tab at the bar, but I wonder now if they expected me to pay extra for the tomatoes or the pickles?? Their food is so good but I felt like a third class citizen ordering from a dive bar.

Great place. Great atmosphere. Food is amazing and the decor is fun. I had the flounder with fried green tomatoes amd my husband had a shrimp po'boy. We also had crab dip. Our waitress was hysterical. She even came out at one point with a Gumby costume on. We always take a trip to Flo's when vacationing in the Grand Strand.

1st Family vacations in Myrtle Beach. Happened on Flo's . Will definitely be our go-to - place when in town from here on out. Grilled Sea Food Platter 2 of us shared. To die for. Manly our server has only been apart of th e 'Flo' Family for 4 days, but we were so amazed ! She was extremely knowledge and answered every question with ease ! Made the evening memorable

The shrimp creole taste nothing like authentic shrimp creole. It lacked any spice, flavor and many more ingredients. If you like imported, frozen farm raised shrimp on top of rice and tomatoes your good to go. Sad because we have a lot of local fresh caught shrimp that has never been frozen$$$$. Not one shrimp was deveined and one had its legs still attached and half the shell. I cut a few shrimp open and it was nasty. "New Orleans style Bayou Cooking". Not even close! The spicy blackened Fish was a very thin, small portion and overly priced, $24. It looked like burnt ribs and nothing like blackened fish. The "Flo's famous garlic bread" is terrible, lacked flavor and over cooked. Frozen, boxed, store brand garlic bread is much better. The fried green tomatoes which I order quite often at other restaurants lacked flavor. The breading on them was bland. The ONE $9 skewer of Alligator smothered in barbecue sauce taste like barbecue sauce. I've had Alligator before and this taste nothing like Alligator. The waitress said eight words the whole time she waited on us. The only decent food we ate were the Hush puppies and Ribs although the sad looking half ear of corn that came with the ribs looked at tasted like it was freezer burnt. Wife took one small bite and under the napkin it went. We are locals and have wanted to go here for years and finally did. We won't make that mistake again. Save your money and get fresh properly seasoned and cooked seafood elsewhere in Murrells Inlet.

This was pretty awful. Service was the only positive. Both grilled seafood platters were so over cooked, you couldn't eat them. The shrimp creole lacked any flavor and the sides all came out cold. Flo's flounder was a tiny portion. The grilled oysters, while overcooked were decent. The $3.95 charge for the gluten free bread was insulting. Shame on you for over charging the people who can't eat regular bread. Our waiter said it was $1.95 which was still too much but the bill arrived, he was wrong. We won't be back and I can't recommend this place.

Went to dinner at Flo's with our large family party of 13 during a vacation to Myrtle Beach. We started with the gator kebabs, since no one in our party had had gator before and we wanted to give it a try. Verdict: Pretty good! The BBQ sauce they were in was tasty if a bit sweet, and the kids devoured the kebabs. My husband and I ordered the she-crab soup and a bowl of clam chowder and tried a little of both. The clam chowder was first rate. I'm really picky about my clam chowder - it needs to be flavorful, creamy, have a fresh crab flavor, and preferably no sand. This chowder had it all. The she-crab soup wasn't quite as good, maybe a little on the sweet side, but still overall tasty. I had Flo's Flounder for the main dish. Delicious crab filling, perfectly done flounder, and the fried green tomato on top was very good, even though I'm not usually a tomato fan. The service was exceptional. Drinks were refilled before we even noticed they were low. Food arrived very promptly. Additionally, I have to point out that my autistic 8-year-old son froze up when it was time to order drinks and couldn't decide. I could tell he was verging on a meltdown -- but the waitress didn't even bat an eye, even managing to correctly read my lips when I mouthed "just water, please" over my son's head. So many times we get weird looks from service people when my son exhibits autistic behaviors, but this waitress took it totally in stride. VERY much appreciated. The food also arrived very promptly, and the view of the creek was a lovely backdrop to our meal. Really can't say enough great things about our experience. Thanks, Flo's!

Decent place in terms of layout/atmosphere - but if you sit outside and it's windy, there's a wind chime which gets annoying. Servers are excellent, drinks are good. Pickle chips are good aside from having too much salt. Green sauce is watery and might have slightly too much vinegar. I had the gator stew (excellent) and shared the $40 seafood pot with someone else. I'm not entirely sure about the price but it was decent - nice and fresh, just way too many oysters (however I'm a person who doesn't like them much, so your experience may vary).

Amazing food!!!! This will always be our spot to visit when we go to Myrtle Beach/Murrells Inlet. Worth the 9 1/2 he trip just for their food! My husband got a calabash type plate (lightly breaded & fried seafood plate) with many different kinds of fresh seafood. & I got the snow crab legs. Mmmm, those were the freshest I've ever had. The alligator stew is good & worth to try just to say you had alligator. & their buffalo shrimp type appetizer is making my mouth water thinking about it. My kids loved the experience, great customer service & our waiter kept us laughing. Beautiful views & make sure to buy some of that green sauce b4 you leave, as you will crave it later! Mmmmmm. I've got to order me a case of that green sauce now.

What a Gem of a place. Visited for lunch and our server, Janice was amazing. The Fried Green Tomatoes were a little under cooked, but the staff recognized that they were testing the recipe and had cut the tomatoes at little too thick. Our table and another table were not charged. I didn't care for them but my wife enjoyed them. But then I'm a northerner. The Po' Boys were to die for. We had the Shrimp Ball & Blackened Fish. We couldn't finish the sandwich. Good coleslaw and fries. We will most certainly return. Also cannot say enough about our server and the other staff. You're making a big mistake if you are near Murrells Inlet and don't stop at Flo's

They may want to think twice what they are passing off as gator there. The shrimp was ok.

Excellent food! I tried the Captain's Seafood Platter and it was delicious! Lots of shrimp, great scallops, great stuffed crab, and the fries weren't bad either. Friendly service, great atmosphere, outdoor dining available, and not too crowded. I will definitely eat here again.

Stopped for lunch today on our last day in Myrtle beach. Greeted by a friendly person and had a great waitress. Some yummy crab dip washed down by a couple Bloody Mary's. We ordered the fish tacos and the shrimp tacos. Both had great presentation when brought to our table and both were very good. Some tasty hush puppies hit the table as we waited for our entrees. Beautiful setting on the inlet. Was our best meal during week we spent at Myrtle Beach. Thanks for the enjoyable visit.

I had a great experience at Flo's Place a few weeks ago. Went there for lunch with a group of friends and sat out on the porch overlooking the marsh. The restaurant already has an awesome atmosphere and the views were equally beautiful. Our server was really great. He was funny and really chill which fit in well with the theme of the whole place. He was also very knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions which is always a plus. I ordered the fish tacos- they had a generous grilled mahi filet on a bed of lettuce and tomato, remoulade sauce, as well as some cole slaw on the side. Flo's did it right. Their meaty fish was perfect on a bed of plain lettuce and tomato which was all brought together with the remoulade sauce. The freshness of the fish with the crisp lettuce and tang and sweetness from the tomatoes all married under the creamy red remoulade sauce that was slightly smoky. The cole slaw was a definite homage to a southern classic and I found theirs to be pretty good. Needless to say, you should definitely try these out. I also recommend their shrimp ball poboy. The shrimp balls are light, fluffy, and not overly greasy or oily. There's a great texture to them with the crispy outside and the soft with yet a bite inside. Don't forget to try their homemade hot sauce that's really good as well. Overall, if you're ever in Murrells Inlet, driving by, or even in Myrtle Beach, I would definitely make the trip out here. It's a great find in the middle of seemingly nowhere.

I honestly can't even remember the last time I had such bad service and food at a restaurant. We have been here before and it was very good. I don't know of its because we had a large party or because we sat outside but it took forever to get our food out and it sure wasn't anything to get excited over. We won't be back! My salad was brown and the tomato and cucumber were slimy, I never received any salad dressing even after asking for it repeatedly! The food was bland and unimpressive, tasted frozen and thrown together. When they brought out our oyster plate they dumped water off of it, guess it had been sitting so long the ice had melted? Just an overall bad experience!

"If you're looking for good food, then this is the place to go." These are the words of my 7 year old nephew uttered between bites during our meal at Flo's, and he's right. Our party of 7 each enjoyed our meals. We almost killed the small bottle of Flo's Green Sauce on our table. That stuff is GOOD. Get a bottle for the road- you won't regret it. Our server Jennifer, was as sweet and southern as the sweet tea she poured me. Halfway thru the meal, while another server was refilling our drinks she said, those look watered down, let me get you new glasses." We didn't save room for dessert, but if they taste as good as they looked and were half as good as any of our entrees, I'm sure they were delightful.

Flo's Place is a special place for my family we've been coming here for years. Today we ordered hushpuppies, crab dip and fried pickles. All were to die for and not cold. I ordered the Bayou Clam Chowder with bacon and cheese. I was amazing and creamy our server was very friendly and social. We had another lovely time at Flos Place

1 star is one too many. Terrible service, terrible food, and ridiculously High prices. Warning to anyone with a FOOD ALLERGY!!!!! My friend spoke to 3 different staff members regarding allergy. His meal arrived on a bed of food he is allergic to. Note to management: get rid of head phones and mics that all employees wear. They are all trying to communicate and it seems to be causing information overload. No one knew we were waiting for a table, no wait staff member was assigned to our table. More than a couple were unaware of guest with FOOD ALLERGY!!!!!!!! My friend thought it best not to eat anything. 2 appetizers, 3 entrees, 2 kids meals, 1 large salad, 2 beers, 3 teas, 2 Sprites = $150.00 + $20.00 for our server. She appeared to be embarrassed and alarmed at how this happened. She spoke to kitchen twice and very apologetic.

Saturday, August 8, 2014 (7:45pm is when this accurred) My family and I came into town for our annual Myrtle Beach vacation. We typically go to Murrells Inlet for dinner and came across this restaurant that we have seen before, so we wanted to try it out. I wanted to start off by saying that our meal was wonderful! We had Matthew as our server, and he was on top of it. I am also writing this letter to you because I experienced a major problem with the "hostess manager." Her name was alanis (alane, or something along the lines) She mumbled her name when I asked for it. Although we enjoyed our time and meal tonight, this leaves me dissatisfied with your service. I simply asked the hostess if sitting outside would help us get seated faster and she rudley yelled at me with a response of "TELL ME IF YOU WANT TO SIT INSIDE OR OUTSIDE SO I CAN TELL YOU." "I NEED TO KNOW NOW, IN OR OUT" I was very embarassed for not only my family and myself, but for the other customers around us. She raised her voice in front of everyone, even a lobby full of people. She then continued to mock me and rolled her eyes. I have already attempted to resolve this problem by letting her know I did not mean to confuse her, but she then replied with ANOTHER inappropriate response. I walk away and take a seat. My dad decided to go up to this same host, Alanis, and put us down for a table of 7. She had no idea that he was with our group. She rudely said to my dad "oh great, WHAT ARE THE ODDS" another big group (and rolled her eyes. In closing, I usually do not write these letters, so I hope this shows upper management and/or corporate how awful this "host" treated us. I run a business and also have a restaurant background. I also appreciated letters sent like this so I could make changes accordingly and also quickly.

Had diner at Flo's last night! Well, I can start off by saying yuck! Service was slow, server had NO clue how to do her job. Never came by to clear dishes during our meal. Crab and oyster shells collected all over the table. The food was way over priced and poor quality! Oysters seemed dry and flavorless, shrimp dry and hard to peel. Yuck! Wouldn't go back! If your looking for good seafood stay home and cook it around here!

Sometimes the good old places should just go the way of the dodo and passenger pigeon. Extinct. I was surprised that my food was edible, but there was really no reason to ever go back. Cocktail was all chemicals, salad was laughable, brownie pie was good. Sever was nice but we must have been the first customers ever. Fat Tuesday it wasn't.

I was on the fence about whether to go with four stars or 3... but if I could give 1/2 stars, it would be a solid 3.5. The place sort of looks like a dive when you walk in... lots of kitschy-tacky stuff for sale and the place looks like its seen better days. But that doesn't really affect my judgement of the food/service, so no big deal. The menu is not huge and didn't feature any real stand-out must-haves, but there are some good options. I was tempted to try one of the specials, but I figured you can't go wrong with shrimp creole. And, I was right. Theirs was good. Maybe not the best I've ever had, but very solid. The tomato & peppers were stewed perfectly with just the right amount of spice and they did not skimp on the shrimp. David went with one of his favorite stand-bys - a shrimp po boy. It wasn't his favorite, but said it ranks in his top 5 po boys. Our server started out on the right foot, but by the end of the meal, I think she was ready to get out of there because she didn't even ask if we wanted dessert before she brought the checks and disappeared for a while. David had thought about trying the creme brulee but decided against it since it was apparent that our meal was over in our server's eyes. Oh well, c'est la vie! Overall though, I was not disappointed and would eat there again.

Bad service and average food. We were supposed to receive complementary apps and the server charged us and then didn't fix it. Wine glasses are strange, and the silverware is gross.

Excellent food excellent service and clean!! Fun ambiance w/New Orleans theme. Service with a smile and laughable Interaction. Take a stroll on Bourbon Street in Murrells Inlet. Delicious apps and dinner entrees. Barmaid Mary knows how to serve up a drink with class! Don't forget to grab your complimentary Mardi Gras beads. You won't be disappointed. Belly full and we left humming with the Saints!

I have been dining at Flo ' for years with my family every time we visit Myrtle Beach. It's been a year since our last visit and in that time it has really gone down hill. The food was horrible. I ordered the combo fried flounder and shrimp plate. I was not asked if I wanted fries or a baked potato, but I thought it was no big deal. The food was lacking in seasoning, over breaded, and tasted frozen not fresh. I ordered the kids mac and cheese for my 2 year old which came with fries and a seasonal fruit. His meal came out on a cafeteria tray, it was lukewarm, and the seasonal fruit was two puny orange wedges. The service was terrible. Once seated, it took 10 minutes and me going back to the hostess before we were actually waited on. When we did complain to the manager on the way out, she was quick to blame the new hostess....she was the least of their problems. We were given a card for a free entree but why would I want that at a place with terrible food!

Excellent food and service! Tonight was our first time at Flo's. We started with the crab dip and some of the wonderful homemade hushpuppies. And $2 domestic beer before 7pm! I ordered the shrimp creole and my girlfriend got the grilled shrimp and mahi. All were very yummy! The creole was huge portion. Also the wait staff was excellent. Our server, Morgan, was on top of things and kept out glasses full and brought out our food very fast after ordering. We will ask for her on our next visit!

Stopped in for late lunch basically because the parking lot was nearly empty compared to the others on the Murrell's Inlet Waterfront, checked YELP!, the wife and I decided to give them a try, make our own judgments. I was literally hailed from the parking lot by a vivacious young lady who was channeling, apparently, the original "Flo," respected owner now gone to Heaven, the young lady wearing Flo's actual signature dress and also wearing a wig of epic proportion. Quite a show! My wife had gone to ask if they were open, had she-crab soup, and when she and Flo, Jr. incarnate came outside to call me in, I have to say, I thought immediately: This should be interesting. Our server, Shannon, was delightful! Her Southern charm and bubbly friendliness got the tableside experience off to a good start and as she was being trained by Kimberly, another delightful young lady, we did not lack one bit for service. We were first served complimentary "hushpuppies" but on asking the lovely Shannon what they were, my knowing as a Southern man that there is no such thing as sugar coating on a hushpuppy, she was a bit stumped and we laughed it off while I explained Southern hushpuppy tradition and cookery; they were actually a corn fritter, served with a honey butter and were still good and would make a nice dessert offering with some freshly churned ice cream and a bit of berry on the side. We ordered the she-crab soup and it was right up there with a few of the other offerings of this classic my wife and I sampled on our weekend foodie jag and though it had obviously been dipped up and put under the lights for some time prior to our ordering, it was still yummy and full of crab, clearly fresh, as there was a bit of cartilage and that tells me it's the good stuff, that and the fact that I could see plenty of backfin in addition to the lump and I'd have it again. The soup, while tasty, lacks the traditional depth of sherry or port requisite to good She-Crab Soup but still it was a decent offering and I'm sure they'll up their game soon, as this is a signature dish of the area and once enough of us review it, they'll take heed. Also ordered the Shrimp Cocktail, eight nice sized shrimp, beautiful in color but overcooked by about four minutes, still good, but to a chef such as myself, I'd rather see them just past mid-translucent, still spongy, as they're meant to be done. Also had a dozen Gulf oysters, Apalachicola species, ate ten (one I spat out due its being spoiled, another I did not eat because I caught the off-color and smell in time), tossed two, but then that's oyster-eating and Southern boys know it's bound to happen sooner or later. Oysters were especially well-shucked and without many shell fragments, so that's always a plus. Wife had a salad, dinner sized, with Ranch dressing which she tells me was crisp and fresh and enjoyable. Shannon took extremely good care of us at all the right moments and I have only good things to say about her and Kimberly. It's so nice to have bubbly and friendly folks serving you as opposed to those who think they're doing you a favor by taking your order. Overall we found Flo's to be friendly, the food not at all bad, the setting perfect, and the experience worthwhile. We were able to sit outside along the railing near the backwater tidal area, watch the birds fishing for their dinners, have a smoke, a well-made cocktail and the iced tea was outstanding, with lemon, served in a huge tumbler, a great Southern treat. I'd recommend Flo's for a late lunch when on the Waterfront at Murrell's.

My husband and I decided to try Flo's since every other restaurant in the area had a long wait. Our food was very bland and non of it tasted very good. We started our meal with the mussels, which were supposed to come with garlic bread. They came out without the bread. When we asked for some, a small plate of bread was brought to us, it had no garlic and had a funny taste to it. My she crab soup, the bread and the white wine from the mussels had the same unpleasant sweet after taste. My husband had the red beans and rice with sausage and was so bland. As we watched other tables eat we saw the same thing, food was missing from their orders as well. The table next to us was brought food they didn't order but never got the fries they did order that they even reminded the waiter for. They had to ask that it be removed from their bill. Everybody quickly paid their checks, no to-go boxes asked for and we left as soon as possible. I gave them two stars because the staff was friendly. I may try it again on our next visit and will leave another review if we do.

DO NOT EAT HERE. There's a reason why the parking lot is the last on the street to fill up. The bar drinks and hush puppies were good, but everything else was atrocious. Salad came out of a Dole bag no doubt, and everything else was horribly overdone. Shrimp, scallops, and fish as part of my grilled seafood platter were cooked to the consistency of dry rubber. And one of the shrimp on the skewer hadn't even been properly cleaned! Gross...

This place is pretty gross. Service was the only positive. Food is mediocre. Drinks are the same as everywhere else. The entire place smells rotten. I don't know if it's just from being next to the stagnant water, or if they have water damage that wasn't prepared, but the whole place just stinks. It was to the point that I was nervous to eat the food because I didn't know how clean the kitchen could be when the rest was so disgusting.

If you're looking for crab legs, here is one of the few spots you'll want to find on the inlet. Pretty good snow crab! Mediocre service. A neat atmosphere - of course "New Orleans-ish" and also water front. The shrimp and grits were bad, very bad. But there are some things you just don't try to do when you're a New Orleans themed restaurant in South Carolina :) Definitely worth a stop, feels different than the rest of the places on the seafood strand.
